The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is joining the #SayHi campaign, an EBU Kids International Friendship Initiative! Children across Europe (and beyond!) will be standing together with one clear message: 'Say hi, be a friend to someone!'. We now invite the entire Junior Eurovision Song Contest family to join the EBU Kids community in promoting the values of friendship, inclusion and social kindness by 'Saying hi!'
The #SayHi campaign builds on the successful experiences of EBU Members NRK and VRT, who for several years have been promoting positive messages for children with local campaigns around friendship, inclusion and anti-bullying. This year, for the first time, the EBU is combining efforts to make this experience happen on an international level, getting many more countries involved.
NRK has produced a common song for this year’s #SayHi campaign titled “Ser Deg” (I See You) and all the other participating countries are asked to translate and produce it in their own language. All children are asked to join the campaign and participate in the dance by learning the common choreography, also provided by NRK:
To ensure that as many children as possible take part in the campaign and embrace the message behind it, in the weeks leading up to the common dance the EBU will coordinate a series of actions that will increase impact and allow children to be part of a unique experience that can drive social change at an international level.
The aim is to have as many children in Europe to simultaneously take part in a dance that symbolizes inclusion and friendship, facilitated by their respective public broadcasters.
The dance will take place on 12 November at 12:00 CET.
How to participate
In the weeks before the simultaneous dance routine, various content items and experiences representing the themes and messages behind the campaign will be published all over the world, including on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest social channels. The dance will be covered live in different formats from the participating broadcasters all over Europe and beyond, while additional offline events will be taking place. You will also be able to see some content related to the campaign during the Opening Ceremony of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Over the coming weeks, we will be supporting participating broadcasters in their activities related to the #SayHi initiative, and you will see some of the content they’ve produced on the Junior Eurovision social channels.
In the meantime, join in on the message and take part in the campaign by using the hashtag #SayHi on social media.
