It's Soleá for Spain!

Soleá will represent Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Spanish public broadcaster RTVE just revealed the news that the 9-year-old from Sevilla 'is having a dream fulfilled' with participating in the Contest.

She received the good news during La Hora de La 1, a Spanish TV show, during which she also had her first interview.

Soleá Fernandez Moreno was born in Sevilla on 19 June 2011 and comes from one of the most important flamenco families in Spain: the Farruco. Since she was little, her enthusiasm for singing and dancing stood out, as she made her debut in a family show at the popular La Maestranza theatre.

When Soleá was only 4 years old, she was the star of a Christmas show, Navidad En Familia, where she made her debut as an actress and dancer.

Representing Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is "a dream coming true", she said. "It is everything, it is incredible to perform on this stage and for so many people."

Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Spain has participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 5 times. They were one of the original contestants in 2003 and took part every year until 2006. In 2004, they even won the Contest: María Isabel honoured the country with its first victory with Antes Muerta Que Sencilla which scored 171 points in Lillehammer. After 2006, it took 12 years for Spain to participate again. In 2019, they were back with Melani Garcia, who gave the country a third place with the song Marte.

RTVE will work on Soleá's song, which will be released in the coming weeks.
