Participating in Junior Eurovision Song Contest is a giant step forward in Polina’s career. She cannot say that the only aim of her joining in the contest is winning, Polina wants to gain new experience and skills necessary for moving on in the future. Polina is inspired by watching her idols and their concerts make her realize how much effort and time it will take before she can approach their level of art and skill. The song Wings makes us see that no one is alone in this world. We are all winners in this life no matter where we come from or who we are. We all have equal opportunities and rights. People should not be embarrassed about their appearance or their social status. All of us have the right to love and be happy.
Polina is often asked why in the English part of the song the word “starlight” is mentioned while it is all about the wings. The team decided to use this word “starlight” in the refrain because of the open vowel “a:” which makes the sound more beautiful and resonant. However, as for the final modulated refrain, she performs it in the Russian language because only in her native language can she best express her real feelings and emotions and share them with the audience.
