Jana Paunović and Irina Brodić will represent Serbia in the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'The Whole World is Ours', which they co-authored.
Jana lives in Belgrade and in addition to going to school Jana plays the double bass and has won first prizes in all the contests she competed in. She speaks English and she is an excellent pupil. Jana also dances jazz ballet, takes singing lessons and is very active in the field of music and media, participating in fashion shows, public and charity events, recording various commercials and programmes. She also provided the voiceover for Maksim, the protagonist in Maksim’s Adventures, a cartoon broadcast by RTS.
Irina Brodić lives Šabac and started showing off her talent for music when she was little. At the age of five, she joined a singing choir, and a year later she started taking piano lessons. At the age of 11, she held her first solo concert as a pianist. Irina has received many awards including seven first prizes at national contests. She has competed in 30 international competitions, 20 of which she has taken the top prize. In 2017, she received an award in the category of Chamber Orchestra so she was given the opportunity to perform at a gala concert at the Berlin Philharmonic.
Forming a part of the band Pahuljice, Irina and Jana had a noted performance in the TV programme I Can Do Anything (Ja mogu sve) broadcast by the RTS. In 2017, they will both represent RTS and Serbia with the song The Whole World is Ours, which they co-authored. Jana and Irina’s message of the song is that the whole world belongs to everyone and that we shouldn’t forget that. Participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true for both girls and they are going to do the best they can, have fun and make a lot of new friends.
About the song writers and composers
Ognjen Cvekić is a music producer and songwriter from Zrenjanin. From 2004 to 2009 he was the Music Director of the international festival, Sunflower, in Zrenjanin. From 2007 to 2012 he acted as a selector of the festival Slavianski Bazaar (Vitebsk, Belarus) for Serbia. Ognjen has cooperated with many artists and has received several awards at national and international festivals. He took part in the Beovision Song Contest in 2007, 2008 and 2009 as songwriter and producer. He and Lejla Hot were the sole authors of the entry Magical Night, a song performed by Sonja Škorić that won third place at the 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, one of Serbia’s best placings in the competition.
Lejla Hot is a singer and songwriter, born in Belgrade in 1986. She holds a degree in Piano from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. From 2007 to 2010, she competed in the festivals Sunčane skale (two-time winner of the festival in 2007), Budvanski Festival (award for best composition in 2008 and award for stage performance in 2010). She also participated in Slavjanski Bazaar (special award of the Belarus Telekom), and entered the Beovision Song Contest in 2008 and 2009.
Lejla’s first album was released in 2012 and she also provided voiceovers for characters in cartoons such as Frozen, Rio 2, Trolls and Beauty and the Beast. She has performed and written many jingles for popular radio stations and commercials. As a composer and songwriter, she has worked with children as well as young aspiring authors and well-known performers. Lejla has also provided backing vocals for many famous musicians in Serbia ans has been teaching for more than seven years.
