Where will the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 be held?

The EBU and its Polish Member TVP are planning for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 to take place in Warsaw.

When will it take place?

The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday 29 November 2020.

Where will the Contest be staged?

Preparations are underway for the 2020 Contest to be staged at a large TV studio facility in Warsaw.

Who will be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2020?

The Contest will be hosted by the EBU’s Polish Member TVP.

How many countries will take part in the Contest?

It is currently too early to say. Over the coming months, EBU Member broadcasters will be invited to express their interest. A full list of participating countries won’t be known until a few months before the event. According to the existing rules, a maximum of 20 broadcasters can take part in the Contest.

How will COVID-19 affect planning for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020?

We understand that people are eager to know how the current COVID-19 crisis will affect the organization of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020. Of course, the health of participants, employees and visitors will always be paramount. The EBU, together with its Polish Member TVP, will work in close collaboration over the coming weeks and months with the Polish health authorities mapping out the impact of COVID-19 on this year’s event. It is our intention to ensure the 2020 Contest can take place in circumstances that protect the health and safety of everyone attending the event.

If the event cannot take place in Warsaw because of COVID-19 is there an alternative plan?

In an ever-changing and challenging environment, the EBU and its Members are more than aware of the difficulties of planning a complicated global broadcast with many international stakeholders in November this year.

The EBU will, therefore, work with its Members and the host broadcaster of JESC 2020 to ensure the continuity of the event in a number of different scenarios.

Would you host the Contest without an audience?

The current situation across Europe is likely to remain uncertain for the coming months and at this stage we cannot comment on the final organization for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest later this year.

Will tickets go on sale?

It is too early to comment on ticket sales for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020.

Will there be any changes in the voting procedure at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest?

The JESC Steering Group together with the EBU and our Official Voting Partner Digame will be discussing the voting for this year’s competition in the coming months.
